Accountability Standards

Corrections Policy

Effective Date: July 25, 2026 — theghanamail.com

1. Our Commitment to Accuracy & Transparency

At The Ghana Mail, accuracy, transparency, and accountability are fundamental to our journalism. While we make every effort to ensure the information we publish is accurate and reliable, mistakes may occasionally occur.

We are committed to correcting significant factual errors promptly and transparently when they are identified. Acknowledging and correcting mistakes is an essential part of maintaining reader trust.

2. Types of Corrections

Substantive Corrections

Errors involving facts, names, dates, statistics, quotations, or locations are corrected as soon as possible, with a note appended to the article explaining the update.

Clarifications & Updates

Where information is technically accurate but ambiguous, additional context or clarification is added. Developing stories are continuously updated as facts unfold.

Minor Adjustments

Minor errors such as spelling, grammar, or formatting adjustments are updated directly without requiring a formal correction notice.

3. How to Report an Error

If you believe an article contains inaccurate or misleading information, please notify our editorial desk with:

  • The article title and page URL.
  • A clear description of the inaccurate statement.
  • Supporting evidence or primary sources where available.

All correction requests are reviewed thoroughly by our editorial team.

4. Content Removal & External Information

Content Removal Policy

The Ghana Mail prefers to update and correct published content rather than remove it. Content is only removed if information is proven entirely false, violates editorial standards, or raises serious legal/privacy concerns.

Third-Party Content

If inaccuracies are identified in content originating from news agencies or external sources, we review and update our published reports accordingly.
